Thornton Funeral Centre Opens

April 26, 2017, Oshawa, ON – The new emissions-free Cremation Centre, Funeral Centre and administration office at Thornton Cemetery were officially opened on this day, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the Honourable John Henry, Mayor of Oshawa, and Bill Baxter, Funeral Operations Manager at Thornton Funeral Centre. Before cutting the ribbon, Mayor Henry offered a very warm welcome to those in attendance, and presented Bill with a certificate to commemorate the occasion. Others in attendance included Dr. Colin Carrie, MP - Oshawa, Doug Sanders, Oshawa City Councillor, and John Neal, Regional Councillor. They were joined by Carey Smith and Michael D'Mello of the BAO, as well as several members of the staff and community board for the VON Durham Hospice.
